Aaje Ologo community in Ogbomoso, Oyo state, earlier this year flagged off the construction of a central mosque, which is now nearing completion following the roofing of the edifice late last week.

The land for the mosque was donated by the Alaaje Oba Reuben Adesina Amao, JP, which he did according to him, to foster religious harmony in the town and give every religion adherent equal support towards hastening community development. He also supported the emergence of a Chief Imam for the community, and went ahead to also donate land for the eid prayers.

“We want our people to have a central place to worship and hold Jumat on Fridays. Religion is central to our existence in Nigeria and as a traditional ruler, I must support all religions. That is why in this project, Muslims, Christians and traditional worshippers contributed. Unity of religious groups and security are our priority in Aajeologo. For if there is no peace there cant’ be development. Aajeologo is a unique community situated between Pakiotan and Ikose,” Alaaje Ologo said while speaking with ogbomosoinsightonline.com.

“But we need people’s assistance to complete the project. Philanthropists and well wishers, we appeal, should come to our aid to make it a befitting worship centre. We want it completed latest December. As the Quran says, anyone that builds house for Almighty Allah, Allah will build beautiful house for that person in paradise. This is a humble clarion call,” he added.

He expressed appreciation to some religious leaders in Ogbomoso like “Baba Atunnise, Mufti and others who intervened to make it happen and also Aaje people in the diaspora for greatly assisting us. We shall not mention names now. We are making history and creating legacy.”

Meanwhile, it is learnt that Oba Adesina is not new to something like this, “he undertook a similar project in his command in Gombe state as DSS state director, with Alhaji Dankwabo as governor, and Dankwabo was the one who commissioned it,” one of his aides, Abel Ajao, informed.

In the meantime, the Aaje Central Mosque is now being used by the Ummah after a mini dedication prayer was held Sunday.

“We went round the new Aaje Ologo Central Mosque once, prayed for its completion, and for progress in our community, peace and unity among religious groups and prosperity, love, long life for the king etc.The chiefs of Alaaje, women groups, Christians etc were all eye witnesses to the roofing and mini inauguration. The first prayer was later held in the mosque for donors to come to our aid to help in its completion,” Alaaje said.
