The chairman of Ogbomoso North local government, Hon George Ogunlade, has described the Alaaje of Aaje Ologo, Oba Reuben Adesina Amao Osunbiyi I JP, dss dir rtd, fsi, as a worthy individual fit for the position of chieftaincy.
Hon Ogunlade made this declaration Saturday during the 4th anniversary celebration of the monarch held at the White Star Hall of the Alaaje Palace, Aaje Ologo.

The well attended event, which coincided with the annual camp of the Rescue Alert Global Corps at Aaje Palace, also saw conferment of “Award of Excellence on Noble Elders of Integrity and Community Service,” on ten distinguished persons, those who have stood by Oba Amao through thin and thick and who have been steadfast in their support for him. The event was themed, “Adamimo-Ogo.”

Speaking at the event, Hon Ogunlade in company with his counsellors and some other political functionaries, said, “Since he assumed the stool of Aaje, many positive changes have been witnessed in Aaje, and so he is qualified.”
He continued, “We should help people who are qualified to the stool, people who are driven by the vision of progress of their community, people who want the good of the inhabitants, those are the kind of people we should enthrone. Those seeking the good of the rich, of the poor, such persons deserve to be enthroned. Oba Amao cares for the widows, he helps the orphans.”

Hon Ogunlade further described Alaaje Ologo as a worthy selection, noting he is not like some Obas or Baales who are dragged to court to face land grabbing charges, “Oba Reuben Amao is not a wrong selection, I am always happy about that. You don’t see him being taken to court on land grabbing cases like some Baales and Obas I saw when I was chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, you know our party secretariat is close to the Ogbomoso High Court.”

Ogunlade remarked the retired Assistant Director General of Department of State Service has made history for himself as the first ever Alaaje noting that the documents in his possession attests to “the authenticity of his position.”
He also commended him for leading the struggle to secure “independence” for Aaje from Ikose, “we thank God He used this Baba to secure freedom for Aaje. What is two is enough to divide. Ikose reign over Ikose as Baale, Aaje reign over Aaje as Baale, there should not be controversy. God has used Oba Amao to fulfill His promise, that is why I said he is a man of destiny, the first to be appointed as Baale Aaje Ologo. This Baba fits chieftaincy, he is atobatele. We are enjoying him and he is poised to do more. He will bring more achievements, schools etc, he is a man of goodwill, who will bring goodness to this community.”

Expressing gratitude to the honoured individuals he urged them to continue to support Alaaje, and not be swayed by the enticements being dangled by his rivals.

Alaaje going down memory lane thanked the late Soun Oba Oladunni Oyewumi Ajagungbade III for facilitating his installation and more importantly the “independence now enjoyed by Aaje renamed Aaje Ologo.”

Oba Amao recalled the late Oba Ajagungbade III approved his appointment by the family and that he had already performed all obligations before “forces of retrogression went ahead to confuse the matter, peddling lies and vowing they would thwart the plan. But thank God we got the freedom and thanks to Oba Oyewumi, he supported us to secure our freedom, he was impressed by the rank I attained by God’s grace in the Department of State Services. But fifth columnists brought confusions. We are however on top of the situation, we have the support of the government. We also thank His Imperial Majesty Oba Ghandi Afolabi Olaoye Orumogege III the reigning Soun, he is visionary and his body language shows he backs us. Long may he reign.”

The event also featured health talks on BP management, care for aged persons and healthy living at old age; enlightenment by Rescue Alert Global Corps; explanation of difference between Justice of the Peace (JP) and Jerusalem Pilgrim (JP); gifts to widows, orphans and other vulnerable persons.
Rescue Alert Global Corps, a non-governmental organization which has Alaaje as patron, and which held its annual camp programme at Alaaje Palace organized a lecture on community security a day earlier while during the 4th anniversary ceremony of Alaaje called on interested individuals to enlist in the corps, underlining that the voluntary organization complements security provision, assists accident victims and generally work for the betterment of humanities.

Also, a health outreach was held during the event as “We are focused on improving healthcare delivery in Aaje Ologo. You can’t radiate your glory if you are not healthy.”

Further on Sunday, the Alaaje led the ten honorees and his chiefs to Union Baptist Church, Aaje Ologo, for thanksgiving. Delivering a sermon titled, “God’s rewards to those that loves Him,” with I Peter 5: 3 – 7, as text, Rev’d S.A. Owoade congratulated the awardees urging them to maintain their loyal disposition and expects rewards for their good deeds.

A government approved Oba and someone neither nominated by the family nor has government approval and representing none but himself or perhaps those he misled!
