18-passenger bus plunges into river in Ogbomoso

An 18-passenger bus with registration number Oyo GBH 734 XB Sunday night fell into Kinnira stream at Kinnira area in Ogbomoso Oyo state. However, no casualty was recorded, ogbomosoinsightonline.com learned.
According to information gathered the bus coming from the direction of Iluju was empty, only the driver was in the bus but he escaped.
The passengers were said to have earlier disembarked following an earlier crash with the driver simply identified as Mayowa continuing the journey to Ogbomoso.

“But he eventually crashed the unoccupied bus into the canal of the river,” a sympathizer at the scene, who is also a driver, said. “He rammed into the railings of the river and fell inside.”
No eyewitness was found and the driver was nowhere to be found as some said he was in the hospital while others said he was at home but the location of either was not disclosed.

A driver when asked told ogbomosoinsightonline.com that such happen if the driver was drowsy, drunk or the vehicle suddenly developed mechanical fault either from broken tie-rod, shaft, ball joint or shock absorber.
But no one knew what actually happened. Even though the owner of the vehicle was on ground but he was not ready to engage the media.
Meanwhile, the vehicle was later removed from the valley of the river which presently contains low water volume.
