It is very daunting on us the good people of Ogbomoso North local government of Oyo state to rise in defence of true democracy which is characterised by the independent inclusion of the three tiers of government namely:-the federal government, the state government and the local government.
Our silence as a people in a time like this is tantamount to enmity of democracy, and posterity will not forgive us. It is therefore incumbent on us to call the attention of the Ogbomoso North local government chairman, Hon. George Gbadegesin Ogunlade to his decision of joining other local governments chairmen in Oyo state to pull out of the Association of Local Governments Of Nigeria (ALGON), this does not enjoy the backing of the good people of the local government. It is a hasty decision taken without due consultation which is in contrast to true democracy because it is the people who own the government.

We want to also use this medium to remind His Excellency the governor of Oyo state Seyi Makinde that the state is bigger than Ibadan alone, therefore the arm of infrastructural development should be stretched across the entire state especially Ogbomoso North local government. We stand our ground demanding equal treatment of all the 33 local governments in Oyo state and urging the chairman of Ogbomoso North local government Hon. Ogunlade to in the interest of the good people of Ogbomoso and of the love of true democracy return to ALGON as a matter of urgency.

In conclusion, we want to appeal to His Excellency Governor Seyi Makinde not to act like an enemy of democracy but obey the judgment of the Supreme Court by granting full autonomy to all the 33 local governments in Oyo state in order to give room for the government to reach the people at the grassroots.
Long live Federal Republic of Nigeria.
Long live Oyo State.
Long live Ogbomoso North Local Government!
