Ex-Baba Ara lead drummer dies returning from performance, APDON, Alula mourn

Pa Hassan Bankole, former lead talking drummer of Evangelist Roland Olubukola Olomola a.k.a. Baba Ara is dead. His age was put at above 70.

 

Pa Bankole according to Ambassador Kehinde Aworinde, national Chief Taskforce Officer of Association of Professional Drummers of Nigeria (APDON), passed away Friday evening while returning from a play in Oyo town.

In a message he sent to ogbomosoinsightonline.com Aworinde noted, “Erin wo ajanaku sun. My father, my leader, my mentor, my supporter has gone. Baba Hassan Bankole, former lead talking drummer of Baba Ara.

“It is with a rude shock that I received the news of the call to the greater beyond of our father, FIRST PRESIDENT ASSOCIATION OF PROFESSIONAL DRUMMERS OF NIGERIA (APDON), Chairman BOT, Elder Nationalman.

 

“Baba Hassan Bankole during his lifetime was a unifier, a dedicated leader of APDON, and a good leader per excellence. He will surely be missed by all and sundry who had the opportunity to meet his amazing personality while he was alive.

“I want to use this medium to commiserate with Baba’s immediate family, friends, and associates.

 

“I beseech God to repose the soul of Baba Hassan Bankole and grant us all the fortitude to bear this irreplaceable loss, Amen.”

Ambassador Aworinde also known as Alula Int’l, in a telephone conversation with ogbomosoinsightonline.com also informed, “Baba Hassan Bankole was battling some health challenges but he was still actively playing and performing at functions. He was at a party in Oyo yesterday (Friday) and was returning to his hometown Sagamu (in Ogun state) when he developed complications. He was taken to a hospital before Sagamu but he was confirmed dead at the hospital,”

 

Alula added that he was in Osogbo Osun state last week Thursday along with the deceased for the inauguration of the new executive committee of Osun state branch of APDON, “in fact, we slept in the same hotel till Friday morning. His de

ath is shocking.”
