The residents in a congratulatory message signed by the chairman and secretary of the Oke-Ogbegun Landlord Association, Mr. Reuben Omoniyi and Mr. Muhammed Yinusa respectively, and made available to ogbomosoinsightonline.com, noted that the vibes from the local government secretariat in the opening days of the chairman’s tenure are positive, remarking it is a sign the new administration would seek to change the narrative of governance.

“We want to express our profound congratulations to our new chairman in Ogbomoso North local government, Honourable George Ogunlade. He fought many battles to make it to this point. We applaud his resilience and success.

“We are impressed by the way he has started his administration. Barely three weeks in office he has made commendable impact. The vibes are vibrant and positive. We are enthused by his powerful impactful beginning. He reinstated sacked staff in the local government without much ado though after he must have found out the genuiness of their case. That is a good beginning as it shows he has human feelings, considerate and kind.

“To give people food or teach people how to make their own food at this time is what only a humanitarian at heart and a pro-people administrator will do. It is an auspicious indication that if he has the wherewithal to do more he will.”

They now charged him not to rest on his oars, stressing that only good governance marked with enduring legacies will cement his name in history.

“We want to charge you not to rest on your oars. Continue the good work in the spirit of Omituntun 2.0. Emulate your boss, His Excellency Governor Seyi Makinde in creating legacy projects. Mark your administration with good achievements to cement your legacy in history. The good Lord will give you the grace.”

The community goes on to urge him to make his impact felt in their area saying the immediate past administration in the council area headed by Hon Kabir Akanji in conjunction with the state government began a road project in their community tagged “phase one.” They thus want Hon Ogunlade to help the community to complete the other phases of the project and others.

“The honourable chairman, we plead for your touch in our community at Oke-Ogbegun. There is a road project undertaken during the tenure of your immediate past predecessor in conjunction with the state government. The project is phase one (about 600m access road) with a bridge. We urge you to extend the road further and construct the adjoining ones.

“Chairman sir, there is also the need for a bridge over the Ogbegun river along the Iwofin road. The culverts there presently have become inadequate because of the large volume of water during the rainy season. Anytime there is rainfall, flood overflows into the road making it impassable. It is always a difficult period for us that always fills us with apprehension. We plead with you to attend to this need along with expansion of the drainage from Opeloyeru area.

“Then sir, this same Ogbegun river is a menace along its course as it often overflows its bank to flood houses making our fellows with houses near it lose properties worth millions of naira on a yearly basis and more hazardously posing danger to lives. So, honourable chairman we will appreciate it if the river channel can be dredged and widened further down to combat this menace. Thank you as the Lord gives you the grace to do this and respond to other requests elsewhere,” the community states.
