Kalilu has set priority vision for LAUTECH

Professor Rasaq Olatunde Rom Kalilu as if he knew he would emerge as substantive Vice Chancellor of the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomoso, had as far back as April during the last convocation ceremonies unveiled a “new vision” for the institution, which he urged all stakeholders to key into and support.

Kalilu, whose appointment was confirmed by the Oyo state governor and visitor to the university, Engr. Seyi Makinde, last week, had, speaking against the backdrop of the achievements recorded and deficits evident under his administration, highlighted LAUTECH would begin to pursue more of internationality to attain global prominence and impact.

“We are driven by new visions towards global prominence and impact. In this regard, we are in the process of repositioning the University for internationalization,” he had said in his speech at the 16th convocation ceremonies of the institution.
To bring this to fruition the incumbent Acting Vice Chancellor who will assume the role in substantive capacity June 12 identified the crucial factors that would ignite the process including technology and infrastructure upgrade, human development and improved funding.

“This therefore requires upgrade of technology, facilities, enlargement of staff profile and improved funding,” while appealing to stakeholders, “To this end, l am appealing to the Visitor to the University to support the University in this regard. I also invite the Chancellor and other stakeholders to join hands with the Government to support the University.”

Earlier, Kalilu spoke on the achievements recorded under his administration among which are introduction of new academic programmes and consequent resources verification by the National Universities Commission, breakthroughs in research activities and other feats by staffs which earned the institution national and global accolades, completion of lecture theatres and hostels, improved staff welfare and staff promotions, impressive feat in university ranking by the Times Higher Education and establishment of an institute and two centres to enhance critical research and promotion of knowledge.
