Ogbomoso-Oyo highway faces abandonment again as contractor begins relocation from site over fund stoppage

May it not happen again! But that is the fate staring in the face the Ogbomoso-Oyo road whose construction is still ongoing as news reaching ogbomosoinsightonline.com indicates the contractor handling the project, Reynolds Construction Company (RCC), is already evacuating from site its construction machines and tools over issues not unrelated with release of funds.
A source informed Ogbomoso Insight Thursday morning that the contractors had exhausted the fund release to them last and efforts to get more funds released have proved abortive “and so the company is already packing out to another site.”

The source urges urgent intervention to forestall “another eclipse on the construction of the road.”
ogbomosoinsightonline.com reportedly recently that the road construction would complete in about four months with a caveat however, “if fund is released,” in view of the complaint of non-release of fund by the contractor.
But with the latest development it seems more funds have not been made available necessitating another shadow of abandonment hovering over the road.
Recall the contract for the road (Ibadan-Oyo-Ogbomoso-Ilorin) was awarded in 2001 by former President Olusegun Obasanjo. But while the Ogbomoso-Ilorin and Oyo-Ibadan sections were completed over ten years ago, that of Ogbomoso-Oyo had remained uncompleted.
Recent news on the road regarding its completion meanwhile elicited joy only for this unsavoury development again.
