Prof Ayandele Agbomojo to deliver UNIUYO 93rd inaugural lecture

Prof Isaac Ayanyinka Ayandele will on August 31, 2023 deliver the 93rd inaugural lecture of the University of Uyo, Uyo, Akwa Ibom state.
A Professor of Operations Research and Strategic Management in the Department of Business Management, Faculty of Management Sciences and who is Chairman, Committee of Deans UNIUYO, Ayandele will speak on the topic, “Wrong diagnosis and policy somersaults: The bane of Nigeria’s development strides.”
The programme which will hold at the 1, 000-seater TETFund auditorium, the main campus of the institution, along Nwaniba road, Uyo, starting 3:00 pm, will have the Vice Chancellor Professor Nyaudoh U. Ndaeyo as chief host.

Professor Ayandele – So far, so good
Prof Ayandele, a purpose-driven, proactive, pragmatic, dynamic, innovative, creative, organized and result-oriented scholar, is meek, gentle, kind, friendly, principled and highly disciplined. His contributions to the growth and development of Nigeria’s educational sector and human capital development are immeasurable and commendable.
He was born in the sixties in Ogbomoso, Ogbomoso North Local Government Area of Oyo state. Consolidating on the solid foundation which he laid during his lower educational career, Prof. Ayandele studied for his B.sc degree programme in Business Management at the University of Jos, between 1987 and 1990. He obtained Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree from University of Uyo and Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D) in Management (specializing in Operations Research and Strategic Management) from University of Nigeria, Nsukka in 1997 and 2005 respectively. He is also an alumnus of the America University of Sharja, United Arab Emirates (UAE), where he got professional certification in Innovation and Sustainable Development in 2018.
As an invaluable expert in his field of study, Prof Ayandele deployed his competence to teaching at University of Uyo, where he was employed as graduate assistant in the Department of Business Management, Faculty of Business Administration (now Faculty of Management Sciences) in 1994. He rose to become a three (3) time Head of Department, Coordinator of Master of Business Administration and Ph.D programmes.
A prolific writer, conference and workshop speaker, Prof Ayandele has written over eighty (80) well researched journal articles and conference papers which have been published in reputable national and international journals. He has also published three (3) solid books in the field of operations research and strategic management. All these and several other professional qualifications earned him professorial appointments in the Department of Business Management, Faculty of Management Sciences – Federal University of Uyo, Uyo – Nigeria. He is the FIRST Professor of Operations Research and Strategic Management in the University of Uyo. Professor Ayandele is also the pioneer Dean, Faculty of Management Sciences, University of Uyo; and the current Chairman, Committee of Deans (Dean of Deans) of the University. He has chaired and served as member of several committees in the University.
Expectedly, Prof Ayandele is a recipient of several awards and commendations. He also subscribes to the membership of several other learned societies and professional bodies. He is a Fellow of several professional bodies, including: Nigerian Institute of Management (Chartered) (FNIM), Institute of Operations Research of Nigeria (FIORN), Chartered Institute of Administration (FCIA), Institute of Corporate Management (FICMN), Institute of Industrialists and Corporate Administrators (FIICA), Institute of Data Processing Management of Nigeria (FNIDPMN), Nigerian Institute of Sales Management (FNISM), He is also a Certified Management Consultant (CMC).
In like manner, Professor Ayandele has not been less impactful outside of the lecture rooms. He has discharged so effectively all the responsibilities entrusted to him. Worthy of note among several other activities outside the university system are his political appointments. First, as chairman, (Care-taker Committee) Ogbomoso North, LGA of Oyo state in 2007; and his appointment, twice as Special Adviser (SA – Governor’s Office in 2014 and SA – Efficiency Unit – Office of the Governor, 2017 – 2019) to His Excellency, Late Senator Abiola Ajimobi of Oyo state.
Also, he was the pioneer district chairman of Chartered Institute of Administration (CIA), Akwa Ibom State Chapter. He is the current President General, Yoruba Community, Akwa Ibom State and South/South – South East regions of Nigeria.
Prof. Ayandele is a devoted Christian. He is the current President of Men’s Ministry, Assemblies of God Church, 66 Akpan Essien Street, Uyo. The post he occupies for the past twelve (12) years. The erudite scholar and academic giant is happily married to his beautiful wife, Yinka. The union is blessed with four (4) lovely kids – two boys and two girls. His hobbies are reading, football and gospel music.
