Ex-Ogbomoso North chairman, Oba Ni Jesu, dies, aged 70
Death has occured of a former chairman of Ogbomoso North local government, Hon Noah Adigun, popularly known as Oba Ni Jesu. He was aged 70.

He died Tuesday in a hospital where he had been on admission for diabetes complications for about a month, a source told ogbomosoinsightonline.com.

Confirming the death secretary All Progressives Congress (APC) Ogbomoso North local government, Mr. Tunji Alabi wrote in his Facebook handle, “The All Progressives Congress (APC) Ogbomoso North Local Government regrets to announce the shocking death of one of her leaders, Hon Adigun Olatunji Noah, who passed away today after a very brief illness.

“Oba Ni Jesu, as the deceased was fondly called, was the former Chairman of Ogbomoso North Local Government and a strong pillar of Akala Political Dynasty.”

Hon Adigun was elected chairman of Ogbomoso North local government in the 1990s under the platform of United Nigeria Congress Party (UNCP) after he was drafted in as chairmanship candidate sequel to late Governor Christopher Adebayo Alao-Akala, original candidate of the party, sudden disqualification by the military.

Oba Ni Jesu subsequently won the election cashing in on the growing popularity of late Alao-Akala then.

Of Ologolo royal family of Soun of Ogbomoso, though grew up in Oponlu compound of Okelerin, the deceased was a secondary school teacher before his foray into politics and his stern posture against students’ indiscipline earned him the nickname, “Oku.”

He was close to Akala and remained his loyalist.

He celebrated his 70th birthday about 3 months ago.

Survived by wife and children burial arrangements would be announced later.
