Monday, August 8, 2022, was an important day in the annals of Ogbomoso. On that day the indigenes and other residents trooped out in their thousands to protest against terrorism that is becoming invasive in the zone.

Within a spate of three weeks three kidnap incidents were reported, one in Jabata, one in Gbede, and one in Abaa involving two victims, who were later killed along with a motorcyclist who conveyed the ransom (N5m) bearer to the criminals. In all the incidents a total of N13m ransom was reportedly paid.

This alarmed the citizens and so, Ogbomoso Consultative Council (OCC) in collaboration with Ogbomoso Community Youth Forum (OCYF) and other interests organized the rally to draw governments’ attention to the menace for swift intervention. It took off at Takie Square and ended at Ogunlola Hall, Oja’gbo. The crowd was addressed at the two venues.
