Gbede kidnapping: We heard victim escaped but we’re yet to find him – Surulere council boss

The chairman of Surulere local government, Iresaadu, Hon Isaiah Adegbite, has unveiled his efforts along with security operatives’ to secure freedom for the medical practitioner abducted Friday night at Gbede in his council area.

Surulere council boss, Isaiah Adegbite welcoming Major General Banire to the council area broke the news on Friday night of how the man, identified as Baba Rasheed, owner of a private clinic in the agrarian community, was kidnapped in his clinic by men suspected to be bandits.

Hon Adegbite in a post on his verified Facebook account Saturday night confirmed he heard the report the victim escaped but that all efforts to find him proved abortive, disclosing they searched hospitals in Ilorin, capital of Kwara state, but that the man could not be traced.

“Yesterday’s evening, I was informed of a kidnapping incident which happened in Gbede, Igbon/Gambari Ward by the Igbon/Gambari Police Division.

“The kidnapped victim who is a medical doctor was kidnapped in his hospital premises, Titilope Clinic and Maternity Centre, Igbon/Gambari.

“Consequent upon the reports I received, I had to liaise with the security operatives from Ibadan and Ogbomoso for a quick, possible and safe way to rescue the kidnapped victim and also to nip this tide in the bud.

“This morning, I led Major General, G. A. Banire of the Operative Burst Team from Ibadan and the Ogbomoso Team to pay a visit to the crime scene.

“According to the intelligence reports we received that the victim was seen at University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital and Ilorin General Hospital even though the reports were false as he was not found there.”

The council boss assured no stone would be left unturned to unravel the mystery and ensure the victim is reunited with his family while calling for calm among the citizens of the council area.

“The government of Surulere Local Government and the security operatives will continue with the search party until he is found and safely returned back to his family.

“I am also using this medium to appeal to every resident and indigene of Surulere Local Government to stay calm and go about their lawful businesses. We are on top of this situation and we will not relent until the suspects are arrested and made to face the law.”
