At last Millennium Model Sec Sch moves to new site

The long awaited occupation of the new school complex at Ile-Iwe area, Ogbomoso, meant for one of the secondary schools that came out of Ogbomoso Grammar School (OGS) – Millennium Model Secondary Schiool – has been effected this morning, Friday, June 24. learnt the school which had since inception in 2003, occupied some buildings of its parent school, OGS, held morning devotion at the complex this morning, organized an extensive prayer session, following which teachers moved into their offices and the ecstatic students filed into their various classrooms.

Meanwhile, it was learnt that the relocation was hastened due to the alleged plan to use its facilities as part of the accreditation exercise being planned for proposed courses at the fledgling Federal Polytechnic, Ayede (FEDPA), Ogo-Oluwa local government.

It was said that a committee inspected the facilities earlier in the week, the information of which reached the Oyo state government.

To forestall its being used for the purpose the Oyo state commissioner of education science and education, Barrister Rahman Abiodun Abdul-Raheem, was said to have instructed the principal of the school, Mr. Sunday Babajide, to go on to occupy the facility.

When contacted on phone the principal however declined comment saying the ministry of education, science and technology, should rather be contacted. But he did not deny movement to the complex.

A source at the ministry meanwhile confirmed the development including the order by the commissioner.

But the planned use of the facility for accreditation by FEDPA could not likewise be confirmed as calls put to the mobile phone of the Registrar of the school, Mr. Akin Odesola, were not answered.

The building was originally built by the administration of Chief Christopher Adebayo Alao-Akala (2006 – 2011) along with another one in Ogbomoso High School. But while that of High School had long been occupied that of OGS was not put into use leading to its dilapidation due to extensive damages and vandalization.

This prompted the administration of Governor Seyi Makinde to renovate the building.

But efforts of the school to move in after the rehabilitation proved abortive until the trigger by the FEDPA’s accreditation exercise.
