2023: PDP candidates emerge for House of Reps in Ogbomoso zone
With the 2023 general elections less than a year away candidates have started emerging for elective posts, those who will be the standard bearers of their political parties.
In line with the consensus arrangement of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Oyo state, candidates have started emerging for the legislative seats in various zones.
Today, Olufemi Onireti, emerged as the candidate of the PDP for the Ogbomoso Federal Constituency i.e. Ogbomoso North, Ogbomoso South and Oriire local governments.
Onireti reportedly defeated two other aspirants, Abisoye Oke Legacy and Akinwole Akinwale Wolekanle polling 28 votes to Oke’s 2 and Wolekanle’s 1.
Party stakeholders, who are leaders of the party in the constituency participated in the shadow election which took place today.
The Osupa-born politician will now fly the flag of the party in the House of Reps’election in 2023 to slug it out with the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC,, as well as of other parties’ candidates.
In Surulere/Ogo-Oluwa Federal Constituency constituted by Surulere and Ogo-Oluwa local governments, Ojo Makanjuola Smato is the winner, polling 12 votes as against 6 and 4 of his challengers, Barrister Lasun Olaleye and Hon Banji Folaranmi respectively.
But it is not yet clear whether those who lost out will abide by the party’s decision on consensus candidates.
