TRAGIC: How 2 APC chieftains died in accident this afternoon
Life could be cruel many times! May we be saved its cruelty on the day it comes smoking aiming for our jugular. Two jolly friends who were chieftains of the All Progressives Congress (APC) met with a violent death this afternoon at Caretaker area, Ogbomoso, Oyo state, after being involved in a fatal accident with an articulated vehicle otherwise known as trailer.
ogbomosoinsightonline.com gathered that the two politicians, Afolabi Tunde popularly known as Aluta and who celebrated his 49th birthday yesterday and Sabitu Alawaye were returning from the Farm Settlement (Agric) in the southern outskirt of Ogbomoso when they met their end.
According to one of their associates who saw them last before they left for Agric (name withheld), the two APC chieftains departed for Agric to collect an undisclosed amount of money, said to be ten per cent of a land sale by Aluta.
The source continued, “They went on the motorcycle of Sabitu to quickly collect the money as we had arrangement to meet again at 4’0 clock with others, it was while they were returning from Agric that they had the accident. My phone was even off but some of my friends who had known of the fatal accident came around to pick me up to inform me, it’s unbelievable,” the source lamented.
Eyewitnesses informed ogbomosoinsightonline.com that at Caretaker area specifically as they approached Waska Petrol Station, they overtook the trailer but unfortunately for them Aluta who walked with the aid of a stick (aftermath of an accident he had some years ago) had his walking stick which laid on his laps hooked to the tyre of the trailer which triggered their fall into the path of the lunging articulated vehicle. “The trailer’s driver did not even know he had crushed them,” the witness added.
Aluta died on the spot while Sabitu though had lost an arm and a leg got to the hospital before he gave up the ghost.
Sabitu, a Muslim faithful had been buried according to Islamic rites while Aluta is lying cold in the morgue of Bowen University Teaching Hospital (BUTH), Ogbomoso.
Aluta is described as a passionate and effervescent politician, who had worked with many political bigwigs. Until his death he was one of the most reliable loyalists of Hon Shina Peller, currently representing Iseyin Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives and who is seeking to represent Oyo North senatorial district in 2023. Aluta was one of his strongest supporters in Ogbomoso.
A charismatic and hardworking politician Aluta attended the APC national convention last Saturday, where new party officers emerged.
