The broken peace in Iluju near Ogbomoso in Oriire local government area of Oyo state, sequel to a bloody fracas between some miscreants and security operatives on Sunday which led to the death of two persons, a civil defence officer and a civilian is in the process of being repaired as a result of the recovery of a stolen police rifle during the fracas.

According to investigations by ogbomosoinsightonline.com, Ogbomoso Community Youth Forum, OCYF, led by Rev’d Peter Olaleye, waded in early morning today and assisted in the recovery of the rifle.
OCYF spoke with the belligerent youths in Iluju and the soldiers who were deployed from Sobi Barracks in Ilorin and with other stakeholders before the operatives agreed to withdraw from the market town.
“The saving grace is the recovery of the rifle,” a security agent told ogbomosoinsightonline.com adding, “If not the security agents wouldn’t have retreated so easily.”

Meanwhile, two persons in connection with the fracas have been arrested by security agents and are expected to be grilled so as to extract useful information that could lead to the arrest of other suspects.
A senior police officer urged community leaders to continue to engage the youths to dissuade them from taking drugs and involvement in anti-social behaviours.
The officer (name withheld) noted the perpetrators must have acted under the influence of drugs and alcohol “but they would be prosecuted, there is no doubt about that.”
The withdrawal of the soldiers this morning had ensured gradual return of residents to the town.
Efforts to speak with the Baale of Iluju was not successful as he was said to be indisposed.
It is further learnt that the corpse of the fallen officer had been evacuated and his family notified to prepare to receive the remains of the gallant officer who died in line of duty.
“People should go about their normal businesses,” the officer urged.
Tomorrow is another market day in Iluju, it is hoped trading activities will not be affected.
