New Soun to emerge soon as 22 aspirants are screened

Those who are anxious to know the next Soun will soon have their patience rewarded as the ruling house to produce the next Oba, Laoye/Bayewuwon, rounded off the screening process two days ago.

According to an impeccable source, the exercise was hectic as the 22 princes who expressed interest in the throne were intensely drilled by the committee set up for the process.
The 23rd person, who is based in the United States of America (and whose name was not however disclosed) could not attend the screening exercise even though he was said to have been informed of the date. also gathered that one of the 22 aspirants screened had previously demanded for the refund of the N250, 000 (two hundred and fifty thousand naira) fee he paid to obtain expression of interest form but yet attended the screening exercise and underwent the process.
It was further found out that the selection committee is now working on the results of the screening as they have started to sit to scale down the number of aspirants or arrive at just an individual.
Meanwhile, the new process adopted was contrary to the earlier reported by It was previously reported that the eight lineages from which aspirants emerged would prune down the name to one each but this was jettisoned when no headway could be made in that direction.
The ruling house is said to have eleven recognized lineages but that aspirants came out from only eight as earlier stated.
Aftermath the screening process the candidate (or candidates) that emerged will still pass through the kingmakers who include Areago (head), Jagun, Bara, Ikolaba, Abese and Balogun. They will make the final nomination, which is to be ratified by the state governor.
