Makinde in company with his Chief of Staff, Segun Ogunwuyi, and other government functionaries, in the tribute he wrote )in the condolence register) noted that the late Adebayo Alao-Akala was governor-general while lamenting that Oyo state, and Nigeria indeed had lost an unmatched experienced politician who combined generosity.
Engr Makinde further described the deceased former governor as a man who advocated politics without bitterness and accomplished a lot in terms of development across the state.
He wrote, “Oyo state, or perhaps Nigeria lost its most experienced and liberal politician in the person of Gov. Adebayo Alao Akala. He was an apostle of politics without bitterness and the pacesetter of development across the zones of Oyo. He will be sorely missed. Governor General. E sun re o (rest in peace).'”
Also, his former Chief of Staff, Dr Saka Balogun, in an interview with newsmen described Akala as a generous man who would be missed greatly especially by the less-privileged.
“Akala was very generous and liberal,” he stated.
“People with disabilities will feel his death more than many of us. Maybe he was reflecting on his own initial humble background, he was always kind to anybody who came his way.”
Balogun added that Akala accorded him his due respect as an elder disclosing they had been together since childhood.
“He gave me respect as an elder who he knew has experience and knowledge and can show him the way and that is exactly what we did when God uplifted him. We have been together since childhood.
“We are like brothers,” he concluded.
