Open letter to Gov Makinde: Appoint an Ogbomoso person as LAUTECH VC
Success comes when we can commence a programme and follow it up till we complete it successfully.
With this, I openly acknowledge your follow up and effort to complete the change of ownership structure of the best state university in Nigeria, Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, LAUTECH, Ogbomoso.
Your Excellency sir, Engr. Seyi Makinde, needless to say, you summoned courage to complete a project initiated by one of your predecessors, Chief Adebayo Alao-Akala, with the cooperation of his counterpart in Osun state then, Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola. What they began after reality dawned on them is what you accomplished with a stroke, also with the support of incumbent Osun state governor, Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola. Thank you sir!
Boldly and courageously therefore l nickname you “Mr. Legacy Continues.”
However, Your Excellency, let me be quick to state that LAUTECH is now over 30 years old. Sir, its 30 years history is trailed by humongous achievements and under you the legacy continues in impressive form. In less than a year of making it solely owned by Oyo state, it has bounced back as the Best State University in Nigeria and Fourth Best overall.
But there is something that has remained botheesome. In over 30 years no indigene of Ogbomoso has been made the helmsman of the institution even though it has capable individuals.
Your Excellency, it is high time an Ogbomoso indigene was made the Vice Chancellor of LAUTECH. It is the same way Ibadan indigenes recently clamoured for one of them to assume mantle of leadership at the University of Ibadan. For its years of hosting the institution and toil for its survival it is right and just for one of its highly qualified academics to be made the VC. Professor Mojeed Liasu, the incumbent VC is serving in acting capacity, l want to appeal to Your Excellency to make an Ogbomoso indigene succeed him as substantive VC.
We know you to be a man who believes in equity, fairness and justice, and so, we believe you will make an indigene of Ogbomosoland the next Vice Chancellor of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology.
Ogbomoso should not continue to perpetually play third fiddle in the university.
The habit of one geopolitical zone dominating all others in perpetuity, in the ministries, departments and agencies in the state, should be discontinued or minimized under you.
It bears repetition here, Ogbomosoland has numerous Professors that have excelled in different fields of endeavours. I don’t need to mention names here so as not to be misconstrued as campaigning or lobbying for a particular candidate. The status quo can be altered without much ado!
Re-write the narrative by making an indigene of Ogbomosoland the Vice Chancellor of the institution.
Thank you sir, Your Excellency, Engr. Seyi Makinde as you consider this in our favour.
God bless Oyo State.
God bless Nigeria.
Comrade, K.O Olawuyi a..k.a. Mr. Fortress
