It has been reported that an Ogbomoso-born officer of the Nigerian Army was recently killed by Boko Haram insurgents. He was Lt. Clement Yinka Ogundare nicknamed “Black Scorpion.”

Late Lt. Clement Yinka Ogundare

This was revealed in his Facebook wall (Clement Yinka) by a mourner named Dania Dorcas Abiade, who wrote: “I can’t believe you are gone soo (sic) soon. You came you saw and you died a hero while serving your dear country. No word can describe the pains in the heart of those you left behind. Each time l see your post, l always pray to God to keep you safe for the sake of your parents but death snatched you from us. My heart bleeds because l never expected to hear this heartbreaking news. Rest in peace dear brother.”

While alive

Details of how he met his death had not been released meanwhile.
However, it’s learnt he grew up in Ogbomoso where he attended Victory Model College (then at Aaje-Ikose) graduating in 2004.
He later secured admission to the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) passing out in 2015 with the rank of 2nd Lieutenant.
He served in several theatres of operations before meeting his end in the hands of Boko Haram terrorists who had become like desert ghosts eating up both civilians and soldiers of Nigeria.

The post mourning his death

Lt. Ogundare whose father is a popular technician (alignment specialist) at Oke-Ado Akintola, Ogbomoso, was a passionate believer in the Nigerian project.
Last October 1 when Nigeria celebrated her independence anniversary, he had posted, “Nigeria shall be great. God bless Nigeria.”
His mother is a photographer and he is survived by both parents and a sibling.
