Court acquittal: See how Akala responded when asked to make comment
Last week there was a landmark judgement which was in favour of Chief Christopher Adebayo Alao-Akala, a former governor of Oyo state in the N11.5b graft case involving him along with others and the Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC).
The case which dragged for almost eleven years was very tasking to the former governor but last week as reported the court pronounced him and his co-defendants as innocent of the charge.
The turn of event threw his camp into huge jubilations even as he held a thanksgiving service at First Baptist Church Okelerin Ogbomoso last Sunday.
While coming out of the court moment after his acquittal and was confronted by newsmen for comment he had only muttered, “It is God
” Je didn’t say much.
ogbomosoinsightonline.com only yesterday also tracked him to his Ogbomoso residence at Randa to have a chat with him on the matter. The former chairman of Ogbomoso North local government just returned from a trip at the time of the visit and was bubbly and effervescent in his usual self.
“Excellency sir, do you care to speak on your victory at the court?” He has been asked.
But calmly he had retorted he was not interested in talking.
“No, no, no. I don’t want to talk on it. There is nothing to say,” he had said matter-of-factly, wearing a victorious faint smile on his chubby face.
Pressed further he only stressed, tersely, ”they only succeeded in wasting my time.”
The leader of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Oyo state disclosed that there was a time he was in the US with Brigadier General Yusuf Brimmo (retd) cooling off and having a deserved rest when they had to rush back home upon being told there would be a hearing soon on the case.
He informed that he was ever present at the proceedings in the court adding that it was not in his habit to miss court.
It was obvious it’s dawn of a new chapter in the life of one of the greatest Ogbomoso men that ever lived.
