Relief as contractors return to road construction site in Ogbomoso
Residents of Ogbomoso especially those who have shops along the Bowen University Teaching Hospital (BUTH) and the Emaayo area, have heaved sigh of relief following the return to site of contractors handling the repair of the road in that axis.
It is recalled that the rehabilitation work by the federal ministry of works which began early this year was discontinued after the old tars had been scraped off the road. The road thus became riddled with craters and the atmosphere in the area always covered in dust. Travelling through the axis became unbearable in view of the attendant traffic snarl often occasioned by thousands of heavy duty vehicles plying the road.
ogbomosoinsightonline.com also recalled that the commencement of work on the road early in the year precipitated vehicles including articulated trucks taking detours through intracity roads leading to widespread road damages especially on the Arowomole-Ijeru-Oja’gbo axis.
This prompted Ogbomoso Parapo Worldwide and some other socio-cultural associations to seek redress at some quarters in Abuja concerning the repairs of the intracity roads whose damage was engendered by the articulated vehicles diverted into the interior during that first phase.
The booming of the road construction machines this morning at the site is therefore a welcome development with some residents appealing that the extent of the road to be covered by the rehabilitation be extended beyond Emaayo area to Ogbomoso High School area.
