Unknown gunmen attack POS centre at Alajiki area Ogbomoso, unleash mayhem
Pandemonium broke yesterday evening as three unknown gunmen struck at a POS shop at Alajiki area of Ogbomoso, Oyo state, shooting repeatedly and succeeding in carting away an undisclosed sum of money with three persons also sustaining gunshots injuries.
It was learnt that the unknown gunmen stormed their target, which operates a POS service at about 6:55pm on a motorcycle.
The shop, located behind the Alajiki Mosque, was said to have been ransacked by the hoodlums, dispossessing the owner of several valuable items and money, an eyewitness who did not however give his name told ogbomosoinsightonline.com.
“They made away with POS machines, phones and other valuables. This is aside the huge amount of money they hijacked. The centre is a popular shop in the area, well patronized.
“The gunmen were so confident that the rider of the motorcycle even took time to pee by the roadside as the operation went on. The injured were struck by stray bullets,” the eyewitness added.
It was also stated that one of the apprentices, as it is also a hairdressing shop, while trying to escape hit her leg against drainage concrete making her to break her leg.
The injured were later rushed to hospitals for treatment.
As at the time of filing this report the incident had not been reported at the police station, a source at Owode Divisional Police station having expressed ignorance of the incident.
Meanwhile, Ogbomoso in recent times has come under series of armed robbery attacks.
This has taken a pattern however according to findings, most of these robberies occur between the hours of 7 and 9 pm, now almost on a daily basis.
Big shops and POS centres are usually the targets, some occuring in the midnight though.
“Armed robbers are now having a field day in the city, they violently rob with impunity, in the night and after midnight. Something needs to be done,” a concerned Indigene lamented.
