Parents unhappy over non-release of BECE, common entrance results in Oyo
Some three months after JSS 3 students and primary six/five pupils sat for their final exams, Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) and common entrance respectively, results are yet to be released by the Oyo state Ministry of Education even though a new session is already four months old.
According to findings by ogbomosoinsightonline.com the exams were written separately in the middle of July but as at the time of filing this report the results are still being held up.
While JSS 2 and 3 as well as SS$ 2 and 3 are well into academic activities for the 2021/2022 session JSS 1 and SSS 1 students are still languishing at home because they have not been given their results which will be the criterion for proceeding to the next classes.
This has become a source of worry to many parents and their children and are justly expressing unhappiness.
A parent who gave his name simply as Mr. Adekunle in Ogbomoso lamented he had children seeking to move into JSS 1 and SSS 1 “but as l am talking to you now the two of them are still at home. Their results have not been released.”
Adekunle added the situation had become frustrating to his two children.
“My children are frustrated, they are fed up with being at home since July. Government should release the results of the exams.”
This is the position of many other parents who spoke with our reporters, they all appealed to the people in charge to hasten the process
Teachers at some public schools also visited in Ibadan the state capital expressed similar sentiment.
“We are inundated with questions on when the results of both the common entrance and JSS 3 terminal exams for 2020/2021 session would be out.
“The parents keep trooping to the school to ask questions about this. They complain their affected children are fed up with staying at home.”
When contacted, some officers of the Oyo state Ministry of Education disclosed the results would soon be released.
