Three outstanding alumni of the premier secondary school in Ogbomoso, Ogbomoso Grammar School have been bestowed with awards of honour for the laudable accomplishments they recorded in their alma mater.
The award recipients were Prince Timothy Beyioku, Senator Ayoade Adeseun and Col. Adegboyega Adeniran (retd.), who all made their impacts felt in the school in a most distinguished way after passing out.
Col. Adeniran came back to build an imposing administrative block with adjoining classrooms, teachers’ offices and basement with offices in the school.
Senator Adeseun tarred intra-school roads, put up two storey buildings, renovated the school hall and other blocks of classrooms when he was a senator.
Prince Beyioku was the first old student to serve as principal of the school (between 1987 and 1995), contributing immensely to the growth of the school.
The principal, Mrs. Rachel Phillips said in her address that the school decided to honour the awardees for their “outstanding service to the school, hardwork and devotion to duty.”
The award programme which came up during the annual general meeting (AGM) of the Ogbomoso Grammar School Old Students Association (OGSOSA), was witnessed by several alumni who came from all walks of life.
The AGM produced new officers for OGSOSA with Barrister Chris Adewole Kolajo emerging as the new president, succeeding Engr. Akande who acted in interim capacity following the transition of former president Mr. Babatunde Adeniyi earlier in the year.
“Great alumni, remember that you are the heartbeat of our school. This is why I would like to reiterate that alumni members will continue to be our strength and our lifeline, to signify the critical and important role the association will play in advancing the vision of our alma mater.”
She highlighted the current areas of need in the school including perimeter fencing, repair of the roof of the hall, provision of modern chairs in the hall, renovation of science lab, electrification project and so on.
Many germane issues relating to the development of the school were discussed with promise by the new president, Mr. Kolajo to contribute their quota to the growth and development of the school.

The principal commended the old students for their various interventions that ensured continued growth in the school while appealing to them to do more.
