The Acting Chief Medical Director (CMD) of Bowen University Teaching Hospital, Ogbomoso (BUTH), Dr. Omoolorun Oluponna, has debunked a rumour circulating that a coronavirus patient died in the hospital last week.
According to the rumour, a man suspected of the disease died in the hospital necessitating the closure of the hospital immediately against the public.
However, in a telephone interview by The Insight, the Acting CMD said there was no such case in the institution describing the claim as mere rumour.
He added that the hospital in its 113 years of existence had never shut its doors against patients affirming that no such thing occurred.
“That’s a lie, we don’t have any case of coronavirus, no patient of ours has coronavirus. Since we have been operating in the last 113 years, our doors have always been opened to the public, we have never closed our gates against anybody.
“I was here the day they said we closed our gates, my staffs were here, we were fully opened for complete business as we have always done over the years.
“The truth is that we don’t have any case of coronavirus.”
